2011 Gemini

Composition: 88% Semillon 12% Sauvignon Blanc

Harvest: September 10, 2011. The average degrees brix was 22.2 with 0.60 total acidity and 3.42p

Fermentation: 100% stainless steel.

Oak Aging: 5 months in French oak, 20% new / 80% 1 to 2 year old Ailler from Treuil.

Production: 411 cases

Organic: All fruit is organically grown in our estate vineyard.

The 2011 vintage Gemini is a blend of 88% Semillon and 12% Sauvignon blanc. All grapes were harvested on Sept. 10th and co-fermented (together in the same tank). The wine was barrel aged sur lie with 20% new French oak to enhance the aromatics and fullness of flavor that is evident in the finished wine. Lightly herbaceous aromas of pineapple and grapefruit, flavors which are soft and fruity, with a lingering finish. While currently very enjoyable, patience in aging will add depth and complexity to the experience that only a predominately Semillon based wine like Gemini will give.

Harvest: September 20, 2010. The average degrees brix was 23.3 with 0.69 total acidity and 3.21pH

Fermentation: 100% stainless steel.

Oak Aging: 5 months in French oak, 20% new / 80% 1 to 2 year old Ailler from Treuil.

The 2010 vintage Gemini is a blend of 73% Semillon and 27% Sauvignon blanc. All grapes were harvested on Sept. 20 and co-fermented (together in the same tank). The wine was barrel aged sur lie with 20% new French oak to enhance the aromatics and fullness of flavor that is evident in the finished wine. This vintage's rendition smells of ripe pineapple and subtle French oak. Overall the lasting impression is a wine of elegance, quality, and balance but doesn't fall into the paradigm of most California white wines.

The 2009 vintage Gemini is a blend of 82% Semillon and 18% Sauvignon blanc.   The fruit was harvested in early September and the juices were co-fermented in a temperature controlled tank.  The wine was then barrel aged sur-lie for five months using 20% new French oak barrels to further enhance the wines structure and aromatics.  Intriguing, exotic, complex are all appropriate descriptions for the aromas.  The flavors and texture are unique to Semillon.  While currently enjoyable, patience will add depth and complexity to the experience that only Gemini can provide.

The 2008 vintage Volker Eisele Gemini is a blend of 73% Semillon and 27% Sauvignon blanc. The fruit was harvested in early September and Both varieties were fermented together. The wine was barrel aged sur-lie for five months afterward using l5% new French barrels to further enhance the wines” structure and aromatics. The wine’s flavors are ripe and intriguing with melons and figs predominating. While drinkable now, waiting a couple of years will add depth and complexity to the experience that only Semillon can provide from a white wine.

The wine is complex yet moderate in alcohol. Gemini is a white wine that ages well and will give many years of drinking pleasure. Savor now or cellar for several years.

Harvest: The grapes were harvested from our vineyard on September 9 with 22.5 degrees average brix with 0.65 acidity and 3.51 pH

This pale yellow wine has a light green tint of youth. Aromas of melons and pineapples are supported by a hint of vanilla. This medium-bodied dry wine has a clean and flinty finish.
